Jack Daniels is a brand of Tennessee Whisky and is the top selling American whisky in the world. It was released in 1875, has been owned by the Brown-Foreman Corporation since 1956 and has been produced in Lynchburg, Tennessee since it’s release.

The name of the County in which it is produced is “Moore” and this county is a “dry county” meaning that the sale of alcohol is actually prohibited by local law.

Classified as a “Straight Bourbon” it sold 11 million cases in 2013. The founder, Jasper Newton ‘Jack’ Daniel was one of 13 children of his father; Calaway Daniel. His grandfather emigrated from Wales with his Scottish wife. Jack Daniel was actually of Welsh, Scottish, English and Irish descent.
